Cafepress Gift Certificates Makes Gift Giving Easier (but less personal)

Cafepress announced that they will now be offering the option to purchase and give Gift Certificates. To be honest, I love receiving gift certificates because I can pick out what I want but they are kind of weak gifts because they aren’t personal. Regardless, they are for sale in the main parts of the Cafepress site and not yet available within Shopkeeper stores. Customers can buy a gift certificate from $10 up to $1000 (thats a LOT of t-shirts and mugs!) and add a personalized message to the recipient.

Cafepress Gift Certificates

There is a feature where you can “Gift this Cart” where you can fill up your shopping cart, purchase the items and then the items in the cart will be sent to the recipient. Gift certificates should also bring more traffic and sales following Christmas (January) with folks that have gift certificates burning a hole in their pocket. Remember this is still GC 1.0 so it will be interesting to see what CP decides to for Shopkeepers to offer custom gift certificates in the future. If you want to test the gift certificates you have to wait until next week but if you need one to send to someone, well I know just the person ;).
