Review of My Free VistaPrint T-Shirt Order

A few weeks ago created a “How to get a free t-shirt from VistaPrint video” and at that time we created a shirt and purchased it. Well, the day has finally arrived to review the shirt (and process).

Vista Print Free T-shirt Timeline:
-Product Ordered – 9/10/2007

VistaPrint Order

-Product Shipped – 9/17/07
-Received the T-shirt – 9/26/07
-Time from order to my door: 16+ days (a LONG time but faster than the expected 21 days based on my chosen shipping method)

My Vista Print T-shirt has arrived!

Well, I just realized why it took so long to get here! It came from Ontario Canada. AND, Apparently the postman didn’t see the text on my package that said “Time Sensitive” you would think it would have gotten here faster. .

VistaPrint Package

Inside the package wrapped in plastic was my free vistaprint t-shirt (plus shipping costs of course!). It was a Hanes heavyweight white t-shirt, a pamphlet with all the standard Vistaprint products like business cards and fancy checks.

Inside VistaPrint Package

One thing that was a very pleasant surprise was the sticker that was on the actual t-shirt under the plastic. The sticker states "Take 25% off your next purchase. Save big on business cards, postcards and more with a link to VistaPrint.com/[urlremoved]". However it doesn’t say anything else! It does thank me for my t-shirt purchase which makes me feel warm and fuzzy but what are the conditions of the 25% off coupon. This is no little coupon. 25% is a huge coupon especially if it has no restrictions. Basically, if you spend the $4something on a FREE t-shirt you can get a 25% off coupon. It is clear that their goals of the t-shirt deal are customer acquisition. So I called VistaPrint to solve this coupon mystery and if you visit the link on the sticker it will trigger a price change on many of the products throughout the VistaPrint web site. So I visited the VistaPrint t-shirt page via the link on my sticker (its a generic link but I am sorry but its not fair to post it here) and all the prices changed for the t-shirts. All the prices you see normally go to red and drop 25% for both single and bulk t-shirts. I have to say it felt good to see prices drop like that.

On to the shirt…

The shirt was a Hanes Heavyweight white t-shirt..not much really to say about that but if you saw our free vistaprint t-shirt video it will explain why I bought a Save the Earth t-shirt. In short, there weren’t many decent options for templates for the free t-shirt so I made a save the earth one. The printing was Direct-to-Garmet (DTG) and was surprisingly of very good quality. The colors were vibrant but I have not done a wash test yet. You can check out a close up of the design below.

and here is a close up of the actual printing. As you can see there is nothing wrong with this DTG print job.

The printing really was pretty good and their prices really are reasonable (no I am not talking about the free t-shirt price). Based on the sample I received I would consider placing future orders with VistaPrint. However, it is an issue they are in Canada because the shipping time is just too long at what would be considered standard shipping rates. There aren’t many occassions that I would want to wait over two weeks for a t-shirt to arrive. BUT, I guess if they had the best price, and their quality was good there may be a day that making an order to VistaPrint might happen. The way to customize t-shirts at VistaPrint is definitely geared towards people who may not have any creativeness but just want to use templates to create t-shirts for their business or next event. This is not bad but its just a different audience than other companies that let users customize t-shirts. If you are up for it you can try and create your own free t-shirt by following the banner below.

I just ordered mine. I really appreciate your page here. I was wondering what to expect as i am thinking of using them for my company. I have ordered cards from them in the past and just ordered more. I also just ordered different items as well and so far have talked to customer service and have had good dealing s with them.

I designed and ordered my shirt two days ago. They were printed and shipped the next day. I am tracking them now. I am in NY and they shipped from Michigan. They are expected to be in 5 more days which is very fast considering it is ups ground minus the weekend. I chose the 21 day shipping as well. The last shipment did take longer however, more like two weeks. That was just cards and I believe that came from another location.

In all, I hope the shirts work out well because the prices do seem to be cheaper than the other sites. Thank you again for for your review!!

How did it hold up in the wash? Did the colours stay?

Actually you can customize your t-shirt on Vistaprint, i find it pretty easy. If you use advanced options you can do a few things that are easy and fun

Dont do it. I tried them and the print was horrible. The shirt gets all fluffy after a few washes as well. Try redbubble or zazzle.

nodaddy.com needs to take a reality check. The shirt is free. Shipping is not free. I guess if you wanted to pick it up at their factory, then it would be free.

Vistaprint is the king of discounts and coupon codes. I order from them all the time as a designer of business cards and marketing material. I recently placed an order for a customer for 2000 full color, double sided, with foil accenting on the front for just over $50 (plus shipping). You can’t get that kind of deal from local printers. I absolutely love their work and they are great to work with. Once when I paid for priority shipping and the order took a day longer than it should have, they refunded my shipping and cut the cost of my order in half to make up for it. Vistaprint is just first rate all the way around. I love their printing on the shirts too. I love getting their free shirts.

They wash well too, by the way. I’ve got one that I wear all the time when I’m outside working and it has held up better than cheap WalMart shirts, that’s for sure.

I received my VistaPrint t-shirt a few days ago, and I wasn’t impressed at all. I paid approximately $32 for an uncomfortable, cheap feeling t-shirt. And, after the first wash, the colors were noticeably faded.

I would NOT recommend for a business or anything remotely close to that.

I just placed an order for 3 t-shirts with a custom photo imprint. The prices are unbelievably low – I added 3 customized luggage tags and key chains with the same photo design just to get the total over $50 so I qualified for free standard shipping. I was glad to read on this site that the t-shirts are Hanes Heavyweight, I couldn’t find that on the site and was concerned they may be low quality for that price.

I got mine today, very disappointed the logo was write but the words were all wrong, now I”m having a hard time trying to find out who to contact about this. True the shirt was free, and all I paid was the shipping but the wording is so wrong I wouldn’t even wear it so it was a complete waste of money for me.

That was the worst censoring ever, by the way. it clearly says vistaprint.com/tshirt …
