For every story there is always a t-shirt that can be designed and sold to spread a story and help ingrain a memory whether good or bad. These t-shirts do more than just spread a message and create memories, they connect us as people and stimulate conversation and relationships. And in some cases this is all at the expense of one individual, and today that person is Miss Teen USA South Carolina. A slew of Miss Teen South Carolina t-shirts have been designed and offered for sale that make fun of her jaw dropping answer to a question during the Miss Teen USA contest. If you somehow missed the video you can check it out on YouTube. The pageant is owned by Donald Trump and the company describes itself as:
“The Miss Universe Organization, producers of the MISS UNIVERSE®, MISS USA® and MISS TEEN USA® competitions, is an international company that advances and supports today’s women. These women are savvy, goal-oriented and aware. The contestants who become part of the Miss Universe Organization display those characteristics in their everyday lives, both as individuals who participate in the competitions to advance their careers, personal and humanitarian goals, and as women who seek to improve the lives of others. Well, Miss South Carolina was neither savvy nor aware and will now be remembered and mocked on t-shirts that will be worn by people all over the globe. The first obvious company to feature Miss Teen USA South Carolina T-shirts was Zazzle who highlighted user created designs.
There are also a few designs on Cafepress but are not as classic as the one featured on Zazzle. Part of the problem is that Donald Trump’s organizations protect their trademarks for the pageants which makes it difficult to create a design with the words “Miss Teen USA” or “Miss South Carolina” without getting a cease and desist letter.
