The rapid addition of products and designs to the relatively new Printfection.com started to bring the site to a hault. In May, Printfection hit their first 1 million products (good job!). In July, pages started to load really slow and sometimes take 30-60 seconds before the products would load (even off high speed DSL). This is bad news for impatient customers who may not wait for pages to load. Scalability is a serious problem that many web companies face as well as tuning a site to handle seasonal loads of traffic. However, in the Printfection Forums, Co-founder Casey provided information on a recent update on the site has really increased the load time. You can also read an interesting post in Printfection’s Blog about the process and issues they are dealing with to grow Printfection’s infrastructure.
